European Tender for Capacity Expansion of the Target Project.

Aprycus has won the European Tender for Capacity Expansion of the Target-project. Aprycus will deliver storage- , server - and network equipment. The Target project is the largest public private IT project in The Netherlands. The University of Groningen is coordinator for this collaboration project.

The expertise centre Target is a collaboration between the University of Groningen, the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG), the National Astronomical Data Center OmegaCEN, the Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy (Astron), Target Holding BV, IBM, Task24, Oracle and Heeij.

Ten petabytes

The Target project started in 2009 and is building a sustainable economic cluster of intelligent sensor network information systems in the Northern part of The Netherlands, Target is aimed at data storage and data management of very large amounts of (sensor)data (growing to 10 petabytes) being located at various locations and systems.

The combined power of these systems and a state of the art network make up for a very fast processing system with a large storage capacity. This huge storage capacity is unique in the world.
